What types of models and dioramas do you make?
I specialise in a range of dioramas and models, including wargaming terrain, landscapes, railway displays, and fantasy/sci-fi setups. Each piece is made with care, combining various materials and techniques to bring my miniature worlds to life.
How do you make your models?
Each model starts with a concept or a specific scene I want to recreate. I use a range of materials including card, metal, foam, plastic, resin, and natural elements like sand and wood. I then hand-paint all the details, adding effects like weathering and wear to make the scenes look realistic, completing the process with delicate highlighting and careful checks before sending them out.
How long have you been making models?
I’ve been making models for over 30 years, starting as a child and then progressing to rich, detailed, models for model railways. Over the years, I’ve worked with most materials, including wood, resin, plastic, metal, natural clay and polymer clay.
How long does it take to complete a diorama?
It depends on the complexity of the scene. Smaller, simpler dioramas can take a few days, while larger or highly detailed pieces may take several weeks to a month to complete. Every project is different!
Do you take custom orders?
Yes, I do take custom orders! If you have a specific scene or theme in mind, feel free to get in touch with me. I love collaborating with clients to bring their visions to life. Custom orders may take additional time based on the complexity of the project. Please get in touch if you’d like to discuss further.
What scales do you work in?
I typically work in common model scales such as 1:35, 1:48, and 1:72, but I also work in other scales if I feel the model or diorama would work better.
Can I request modifications to a model I see on your site?
While many of the models on my site are ready-made and can’t be altered, I’m happy to discuss minor adjustments or the possibility of creating a new model based on your preferences. Please get in touch if you’d like to discuss further.
Where can I purchase your models?
You can purchase my models directly from my eBay store or via my Etsy shop.
Do you ship internationally?
Not currently but get in contact as I might make an exception.
What materials do you use?
I use a combination of materials such as plastic, resin, wood, metal, paper, foam, and acrylic paints. I also like to incorporate natural materials and found objects to add texture and realism to my dioramas.
Can I commission a diorama for a gift or special occasion?
Absolutely! A custom diorama can make for a truly unique gift or centrepiece. Whether it’s a historical scene, a replica of a favourite location, or something entirely imaginative, I’d love to help create something special for you.
Do you offer tutorials or classes on diorama making?
I occasionally offer tutorials and behind-the-scenes looks at my process on the blog. I have also written a number of guides and tips for model-making on my companion site, ModelRailwayEngineer.com.
How did you get started in modelling and diorama making?
I’ve always had a passion for creating miniature worlds. It started with scale model kits as a hobby, moving to model railways, and over time I honed my skills through practice, learning new techniques, and experimenting with different materials. After receiving positive comments on Instagram and Facebook I started selling my models in 2024 and haven’t looked back since.
Can I see examples of your past work?
Of course! View my work to see a range of my completed dioramas and models. If you’re interested in a specific style or theme, feel free to browse and get in touch if you have any questions.
Are your models suitable for children?
My model railway models can be used on a Hornby style model railway that could be used by older children although they may require connection to the electrical supply of the railway for lighting and effects to work and this should be supervised. My other models are for display and while could be looked at buy children are not play items. All my models also contain small items which, while glued in place, if they come lose should not be eaten or swallowed and as such are not suitable for younger children.
What scale and size are your models
My fantasy dioramas vary in scale from 1/12th to 1/64th scale; scenic items for tabletop wargaming are suitable for Warhammer and other popular wargaming boards; my model railway pieces are accurately scaled for OO Hornby style layouts – 1/76.2 scale. They also work well for 009 Narrow Gauge railways as while these have a smaller track gauge the scale is the same as OO scale railways.
Do you offer a returns policy
All dioramas and models sold via my eBay and Etsy stores have returns policies. Please see the returns policies there for full details.
